CAMEO Accomplishments Through April 2010

1. Empty Bowls (benefiting the Houston Food Bank), February 2006 - Demonstration and firing at San Jacinto College

2. Empty Bowls 2006 Event - contribution, demonstration and volunteer work at event.

3. First Annual Emerging Artists Exhibit 2006 - venue provided, sales, public relations, advertising, all costs involved in the exhibit.

4. 2006 Spring Clay Workshop for Shriner's Hospital, Galveston - C.A.M.E.O. member volunteers to conduct clay workshop for burn patients.

5. 2006 Fall Clay Workshop for Shriner's Hospital, Galveston.

6. Texas Teapot Tournament - January 2007 - venue provided, judging, monetary awards, sales, public relations, advertising, all costs involved in this international event.

7. Raku Bowl Workshop 2007 - University of Houston, Clear Lake provided venue for workshop conducted by Nick J. de Vries, Professor of Ceramics. Bowls were contributed for Empty Bowls 2007.

11. 2007 Fall Clay Workshop, Shriner's Hospital, Galveston.

12. 2007 Winter Clay Workshop, Shriner's Hospital, Galveston.

13. Texas Teapot Tournament 2008.

14. Tom Turner Workshop, 2008 - Internationally renowned potter, Tom Turner, travels to Houston. North Harris College provided venue space for this workshop. CAMEO paid all expenses associated with this event.

15. 2008 Spring Clay Workshop Shriner's Hospital, Galveston.

16. 2008 Empty Bowls Houston. Demonstrated throwing, worked the event, donated bowls.

17. Third Annual Emerging Artists Exhibit 2008.

18. Purchased 1701 Dunlavy St. - CAMEO House in August 2008.

19. Hurricane IKE hit. Fortunately, there was no damage to CAMEO House.

20. Held yard sale fundraiser.

21. Commercial plumbing brought up to city codes.

22. Conducted a mini-teapot workshop at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.

23. Began CAMEO library and set up permanent collection exhibit.

24. Texas Teapot Tournament 2009.

25. V. Chin Clay Workshop.

26. Empty Bowls 2009. Demonstrated throwing, worked the event, donated bowls.

27. Gave lecture on clay and firing methods for girl scouts. Discussed clay pieces on display at CAMEO House.

28. Master Potters of America Exhibit, selected works, 1975 - Present day.

29. Emerging Artists, August 2009.

30. Clay Classes now being offered at CAMEO House. Consult houstonpotters.com for more information.

31. Design and Engineering Plans donated to CAMEO for construction of Handicapped Ramp according to ADA codes.

32. Texas Teapot Tournament 2010.

33. Received Tax Exempt Status from Harris County Appraisal District.

34. CAMEO House is rewired in compliance with Commercial Codes as required by the City of Houston.

35. Great Masters of Mexican Clay Art, sponsored by CAMEO in partnership with LADAP, Los Amigos del Arte Popular.

36. Spring workshop on garden ornaments, June. Community invited to participate.

37. Clay and Spirituality - Clay demonstration given by Janis Ross for Church and congregation.

38. Emerging Artists, August 2010; Rosalind Speed, Chair.

39. Texas Teapot Tournament 2011.

40. Complete revamp of CAMEO website.

Note: Shriner's Hospital in Galveston has closed due to the damage by Hurricane IKE. We hope to resume workshops soon.
